There’s a lot starting to happen with Def Leppard that makes 2027 look pretty interesting. The band just announced a theatrical release for “Long Live Def Leppard”, their first-ever authorized feature-length documentary.

It’ll tell the story of the band from their early days in Sheffield through everything they’ve been through to become one of the biggest rock bands in the world. At the same time, Joe Elliott has been talking about the band’s next album, which is expected in early 2027. They’ve been recording whenever they can between Vegas and touring, and apparently they’ve got close to two albums’ worth of material to choose from.

Joe Elliott has been giving a few interviews, and he says they’re not exactly playing it safe this time around.
I will tell you this much, we’ve written the fastest song we’ve ever done. And we’ve also written the most ridiculously over-the-top, pretentious, massive, big, kind of bombastic song that we’ve ever written, too, and lots of stuff in between. So it’s very varied. It’s a very eclectic collection of tunes. A lot of people will be shocked, I think, because of the direction that we’re going in, ‘cause it’s not one direction. It’s 10 different directions.

And that’s where things get interesting. A new Def Leppard album, a major documentary and a band that still clearly wants to be out there touring...it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if all of that leads to a pretty big year for Def Lep!
