Man sought after baby shot in head during parents’ dispute in Tennessee, police say

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Police in Tennessee are searching for a father who opened fire on a vehicle during a dispute with the mother of his children, striking their 8-month-old baby girl, authorities said.

According to WZTV, the Columbia Police Department is looking for Kobia Eugene Lloyd Jr., 21, who faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, child endangerment and reckless endangerment in connection with the shooting, which occurred about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hallmark Apartments.

In a news release shared on Facebook, the department said Lloyd “was involved in an altercation with” the 22-year-old mother of his three young children, who range in age from 8 months to 2 years old.

“During the altercation, Lloyd fired one round from a handgun into a vehicle occupied by the female and their three children,” the release said, adding that the youngest child “was struck in the head.”

The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital before she was flown to another facility in Nashville, WZTV reported. The girl “is currently listed in critical but stable condition,” the release said.
