Athens-Clarke County Police make an arrest in a deadly hit and run wreck on the Highway 10 Loop: Knox Whiten, a 21 year-old University of Georgia student from Toccoa, was struck and killed while walking on the Loop near North Chase Street. Police have charged 28 year-old Virkerria Steward in the March 21 accident. Counts include first degree vehicular homicide.
There is a child molestation arrest in Elbert County: the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office says 45 year-old Sandro Barbosa is being held without bond in the Elbert County Detention Center.
Police in Gainesville have released the name of a woman they say is a homicide victim: Lilian Andrade was 26 years old, from Gainesville. Her body was found earlier this week outside an apartment on the city’s west side. The GBI is in on the ongoing investigation.
There are child porn charges for a man in Gainesville: the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says 27 year-old Alexander Spearman was arrested and booked into the Hall County jail, where he was, at last report, being held without bond.
The family of two brothers found dead in home near Lawrenceville is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case in Gwinnett County.
