Police officers shoot, kill gunman at Target in Nebraska

OMAHA, Neb. — A suspected gunman at a Target store in Omaha, Nebraska, was shot and killed Tuesday by police officers.

Omaha Police Department on Twitter said that officers responded to a. shooting call around noon at a Target store at 178th Street and Center. When officers arrived at the store, they reportedly shot the suspect, who was armed with a rifle.

The rifle was reportedly an AR-15, according to The Associated Press. The suspect died at the scene from his injuries.

Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said the man had “plenty of ammunition.” Evidence suggests that he fired multiple rounds but it was unclear if anyone was shot.

Schmaderer said that multiple 911 calls were received just before noon, and that officers arrived at the store within minutes, according to the AP.

Target spokesperson Brian Harper-Tibaldo told the AP in a statement that all guests and team members were evacuated from the store safely.

Omaha Police Department said no victims were located at Target or any hospitals in the area. Detectives and forensic technicians will be at the store into Tuesday evening.
