Court officials told the news station that the charges involve one of Chung’s family members. He also faces an accusation of vandalizing property, according to WFXT.

The new charges come after authorities in Belknap County, New Hampshire, announced last year that they were dismissing a cocaine possession charge filed against Chung, USA Today reported. As part of the deal, Chung was required to be on “good behavior” for two years, refrain from felony and misdemeanor crimes, complete 40 hours of community service and submit to regular drug testing, according to USA Today and WFXT.

In a news release obtained by USA Today, Belknap County Attorney Andrew Livernois said the agreement was reached because Chung had no prior criminal record and he fully cooperated with investigators.

The charge stemmed from an incident reported June 25, 2019, in Laconia, New Hampshire, WFXT reported.

Chung announced in March that he was retiring from the NFL after playing 11 seasons in the league and earning three Super Bowl rings, The Associated Press reported. He played for the Patriots from 2009 to 2012, and again from 2014 to 2020. In 2013, he was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
