SEFFNER, Fla. — A Florida garbage truck driver helped a lost toddler find his parents after the 2-year-old boy was found alone in a park, WFLA reported.
Robert Riley, was collecting garbage in the Lazydays RV Resort in the Tampa suburb of Seffner on Tuesday when he noticed a child wandering alone in a park near a road, the television station reported.
Riley observed the boy for several minutes, and when no parent appeared, he approached the barefoot child, took his hand and called 911, according to WFLA.
After a Hillsborough County deputy arrived, he worked with Riley and resort security officials to help return the boy safely to his parents, WFLA reported.
“They can look for something as simple as a broken window or maybe someone sneaking around homes and looking into windows,” Ken Bevis, the district manager at Waste Management, told the television station.
Drivers undergo training every few years, Bevis said.
