Alabama firefighters rescue kitten wedged behind vehicle’s dashboard

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Firefighters in northern Alabama helped avoid a cat-astrophe on Sunday.

The fire crew, part of Huntsville Fire Station 2, rescued a 6-week-old black kitten from behind the dashboard of a vehicle, WHNT reported.

Sarah Ruff told the television station she found the tiny feline on the side of the road. After rescuing it, Ruff put the kitten in the car and headed toward an animal shelter.

That is when the kitten crawled up behind the vehicle’s glove compartment. After searching for it for several hours, Ruff told WHNT that she and a friend went to the fire station.

Two firemen removed the radio and were able to retrieve the kitten.

“They went way beyond their job description to help me save money for a mechanic as well as to help save that little guy,” Ruff told WHNT. “I just think they deserve to be mentioned here as real heroes.”

Ruff said she named the kitten Loki and took it to a veterinarian to make sure he was OK, the television station reported.
