Lawsuits filed in wake of Hall Co plant disaster

Six workers died

Three weeks after the nitrogen leak that killed workers at a Hall County poultry plant, there are two lawsuits blaming the company that serviced the nitrogen system. Six people died in the January 28 accident at the Prime Pak poultry plant in Gainesville. OSHA is investigating.

Two wrongful death lawsuits are filed after a deadly liquid nitrogen leak inside a Gainesville plant. 11Alive reports two families of victims who died in the industrial accident think Messer Gas, the largest privately-owned industrial gas leader, should be held responsible.

Attorney Matt Cook says Messer Gas installed the system in December and received several complaints.

The lawsuit alleges Messer failed to properly inspect the concerns and had even sent a representative a few days before the deadly leak for an unsuccessful service repair to the Foundation Food Group plant.. Six people died January 28th and many others were injured during the chemical leak. Messer Gas company officials say they’re reviewing the lawsuits and have no comment at this time.
