The Day After His 71st Birthday Bruce Springsteen Premieres His New Song “Ghosts”

The day after turning 71 Bruce Springsteen premiered another song from his album “Letter To You” coming on October 23rd. The song is the rocker “Ghosts”.

September 23rd 2020 Bruce Springsteen turned 71.

The next day on his YouTube channel Springsteen premiered another song from his album “Letter To You” which is coming on October 23rd 2020.

The new song is the rocker “Ghosts”.

The song is itself like a letter to fellow musicians that Bruce has known and played with over the years.

The video is complete with images from throughout Bruce’s entire career.

There are even images from his very first band as a teen, “The Castiles”.

One picture even captures that band outside Cafe Wha? in Manhattan in the 60′s.

The lyrics are a reaction to the ghosts Bruce say visit him in his dreams these days.

He goes into detail about it in a recent Rolling Stone interview.

Part of that article reads “He was also writing about being haunted, not unpleasantly, by the dead, most directly on the rousing “Ghosts” (“I turn up the volume and let the spirits be my guide/Meet you, brother and sister, on the other side,” he howls)”.

As a long time fan who has seen more than 250 Springsteen shows, this song feels like “No Surrender” for a man writing about realizing his mortality and aging and being just fine with both.
