Some gaps remain, but Florida’s 2013-14 basketball schedule is coming together.
One of the last big puzzle pieces is the addition of a road trip to Connecticut on Dec. 2, the school announced today. That deal includes a rematch in Gainesville late in 2014 or ’15, depending on the O’Connell Center renovations.
As of now, the Gators intend to host Connecticut in the 2014-15 season, but are allowed to push it back to 2015-16 if construction is underway.
Many of UF’s opponents already were public, but the program announced dates for the following:
Nov. 8 vs. North Florida (season opener)
Nov. 12 at Wisconsin
Nov. 16 vs. Arkansas-Little Rock
Nov. 18 vs. Southern
Nov. 21 vs. Middle Tennessee
Nov. 25 vs. Jacksonville (at Veterans Memorial Arena)
Nov. 29 vs. Florida State
Dec. 2 at Connecticut
Dec. 10 vs. Kansas
Dec. 17 vs. Memphis (Jimmy V Classic in New York)
Dec. 29 vs. Savannah State
Jan. 4 vs. Richmond
The school also will face a yet to be determined opponent Dec. 21 in the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise.
The SEC schedule has not been announced, but Florida expects to get with home-and-home arrangements with Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn. The Gators would likely host Georgia, Missouri, LSU and Texas A&M while traveling to face Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
An SEC spokesperson said the conference schedule will be released in August.
